Allan Levi MD, PhD, FRCS(C), FACS, specializes in the field of spine and peripheral nerve surgery.  His neurosurgical training was completed at the University of Toronto.  He did specialized fellowship training in spine surgery at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. He completed this Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Richard Bunge between ‘91 – '94. Dr. Levi joined the faculty at the University of Miami in 1997.

Dr. Levi serves as Chief of the Neurospine service at Jackson Memorial Hospital and has a busy clinical practice which includes the treatment of numerous spinal disorders including but not limited to degenerative spine diseases, spinal trauma, rheumatoid arthritis, tumors, Chiari malformations, syrinxes, etc. The latest technology is available within the operating rooms including complex spinal instrumentation, artificial cervical discs, spinal cord monitoring and minimally invasive spine surgery.

Dr. Levi also has a special interest in peripheral nerve disorders and treats patients with nerve entrapments, tumors and trauma.
 
Dr. Levi has over 60 peer-reviewed publications and over 10 text book chapters. He serves as a reviewer for several journals in neurosurgery and neuroscience. He over-sees a number of on-going clinical trials and has an active research lab working in the field of spinal cord injury including cellular transplantation of Schwann cells and stem cells.
